People ask me why we started a coffee company. We didn't start Seek to ride a trend.
We started it for our mom.
Our Mom did everything right, but was still sick
For as long as I can remember, our mom has been searching for answers about her health. Over the years she has been diagnosed with a long list of things, CIRS and mold toxicity among them. In her own words,

So Will and I started looking at the things she had every single day. One of them was coffee.
Coffee was already a big part of both our lives. For me it's a daily ritual. We both spent five years as a barista at a commercial coffee shop.

Our family cared about what we ate. Why weren't we asking the same questions about the coffee we drank every morning?

What we learned about mold and coffee
Coffee is a crop. The beans are grown, picked, dried, stored and shipped, often across an ocean, before anyone roasts them. Along the way, mold can find its way in. Some molds produce compounds called mycotoxins.
Most people never ask whether their coffee was tested for any of it. For a long time, we hadn't either.
I don't think most people are worried about this. I think most people have just never been told to ask. I believe we're still early in the awareness around mold, mycotoxins and third-party testing in coffee.
We didn't want Mom to have to take our word for it. So Seek is lab-tested, and anyone can look at the results.
How we make it: source, test, roast
Here's the whole process. It's not complicated. It's just careful.

We didn't build Seek for clinics. We built it for one person - our mom.
